The interview is about getting to know each other. You do not need perfect answers. Preparation, punctuality and genuine interest matter more than memorised sentences.
Before: prepare three things
- Look at the company.Website, products, location and what interests you.
- Think through a few answers. Why this profession? Why this company? What are your strengths?
- Write down your own questions.Team, vocational school, daily work or how trainees are supported.
Common questions
- Why do you want to learn this profession?
- Why are you applying to us?
- What did you enjoy during your placements?
- Which school subjects do you like?
- What do you do in your free time?
- What are you good at, and what is harder for you?
Practise your answers, but do not memorise everything word for word. Otherwise the interview quickly sounds like a presentation.
Nervous? That is normal.
You can even say that you are a little nervous. Nobody expects the interview performance of someone with twenty years of professional experience.
What should you wear?
Clean, tidy and appropriate for the profession. A suit is not automatically necessary.
You can ask questions too
How big is the team?
Who will support me during the apprenticeship?
Will I spend time in different departments?
After the interview
Thank the people you met and confirm your interest if you liked the opportunity. If there is no reply by the stated deadline, a polite follow-up is fine.
